Fireboats have evolved dramatically since the days when port cities typically maintained large, slow, deep draft vessels with very high water pump capacity. Today's fire/rescue vessels like the M1 and M2 are favored for their low-speed maneuverability, fast response & versatility in supporting dive operations as well as providing a stable platform for emergency medical treatment during rescue operations. The M1 and M2's hydraulically driven fire system can be configured to achieve pumping over 1000 GPM without sacrificing maneuverability during fire-fighting operations.
